Jambi Port was originally located in the city of Jambi (Boom Batu). However, due to the development and arrangement of the city and also the changes in the direct transportation system that switched to containers, in 1996 the port was moved to Talang Duku, Muaro Jambi Regency, 10 Km from Jambi City.
Hinterland of Jambi Port is not only Jambi Province, but also covers the surrounding areas such as Riau, West Sumatra, Jambi, and South Sumatra. This area is widely known as a major producer of various plantation commodities such as oil palm, rubber, areca nut, coconut, coffee, tea, and chocolate. Jambi Port serves the liquid bulk and dry bulk business lines.
